1. Advanced Protective Overcoat Glaze Technology
Historically, platinum rim porcelain tableware suffered from micro-scratching caused by cutlery interaction or contact with adjacent plate foot rings during stacking. PATRA’s R&D team engineered a high-translucency ceramic protective flux overlayer applied directly over the precious metal decal prior to final decoration firing.
This barrier encapsulates the metallic platinum paste within the glaze layer, increasing surface hardness to Mohs Scale 7 and drastically increasing resistance to gray cutlery marking and mechanical wash abrasion.
2. Thermal Expansion Coefficient Matching
One of the primary causes of precious metal peeling on commercial ceramics is thermal mismatch between the porcelain body, glaze, and metal film under rapid temperature changes (e.g., pulling hot plates from dishwashers into cold plating stations). PATRA tailors its kaolin-feldspar-quartz body formulation to match the exact thermal expansion coefficient of our platinum preparation, ensuring zero stress-delamination over thousands of thermal cycles.
3. Automated Precision Banding vs. Artisan Hand-Gilding
We combine high-speed automated laser-guided concentric banding machines for high-volume standard lines with skilled hand-gilding artisans for custom luxury filigree. This hybrid production model ensures concentric thickness tolerances within ±0.05mm, providing flawless visual harmony across thousands of banquet place settings.
